The game never had much identity to begin with but as an example with the healers and a few other examples:
>scholar used to be the only healer with an instant heal and was also the “buffer” at one point with 30% haste that directly affected skill speed and spell speed, the idea was buff maintenance rather than that putrid 2m burst shit every single job has now
>AST used to have their cards, which were neutered in stormblood then completely and utterly destroyed in shadowbringers. They could have made the cards not rng while keeping the interesting buff mechanics instead like the one that used to lower cooldowns.
>destroyed the simplistic resource system the game had instead of improving it (removed tp, mp now works like tp used to work) instead of fixing it. Thus they also remove things like goad, ewer and spire
>bard used to have actual support stuff, now they have a 1% dhit and crit buff, oh and every 60s (lol2minutes) you get a 5% raid dmg buff, exactly the same as every other dps
>theres nothing in the game thats challenging to heal, dying usually means reset, getting hit once by a mechanic usually means instant death the second time, ergo theres nothing healers need to fix with all their emergency buttons and certainly no reason to use gcd heals which are all the same across all the fucking healers
>how clerics stance and tank stance used to work
To be frank, I didn’t think the game was that amazing back in 2.0 or heavensward but it sure was a hell of a lot better than it is now and at the time I thought ut could improve into something nice from its base tennets, I have no idea how we ended up with this moba ass pve gameplay
