The problem with modern Dragon Ball and DB fanfictions:
There is no sense of catharsis
No schadenfreude
No comeuppance
No "arrogant shitsack humbled by the guy he underestimated"
Dragonball OWNED that shit. From Taopaipai all the way to Jiren, the series was usually really good at having an antagonist with hubris thinking he's better than everyone else, then proves he IS better than everyone else, and talks endless shit, until someone puts him in his place and he gets angry and flustered like a bitch
That sort of violent humiliation is part of the reason DBZ was so badass. There was no better feeling than watching that little pipsqueak no one believed in but always had glimpses of extreme power suddenly put Perfect Cell down in two hits when even Goku couldn't do more than wear out a holding-back Cell.
Can you imagine something like Gohan 2-hit humiliating Cell in Naruto, One Piece, or Jujutsu Kaisen?

So much other shonenshit tries its damnedest to avoid becoming overpowered and staying balanced. DB never did. Very second arc of the manga had Roshi blowing up the goddamn moon. DB's always been "we need to get stronger, so we get stronger" without any magic system balancing, and then fags get angry at this like most shonen doesn't already do that, and they also get angry that DB is more popular than their FOTM "balanced magic system" shonenshit because tards like us just want to see the musclemen blow up more shit
Also something else you could note is that it's a very "cathartic" sense of fighting.
Everyone says 'I wish strategy and tactics and adventure came back.' Then it did in Daima and everyone except Kanz troons hates it.
Everyone loves the beat downs instead.
That's what makes DBZ so visceral: some full of himself piece of shit comes along and beats everyone up and mocks then for it. You feel fucking hopeless like there's no way to win.
Then the hero comes in and starts taking them down, and he starts losing it and melting down. There's nothing more viscerally satisfying than breaking and bringing down some arrogant shitsack. A lot of other shows don't do that. They make the fights way more even and more something to do with "power of friendship"
No sense of being the BVLL who comes in and finds the bully tormenting everyone and putting him on his knees crying like a little bitch that he wasn't supposed to lose like DBZ.
