Veletaris are still made of paper, they just do damage unlike lasrifles.

The storm axe is honestly one of the games stronger melee weapons. S+2, AP3 D1 with breaching and shred 5+ as a 3 point upgrade is insane.

Veletaris mangle a lot of units in melee they just get mangled themselves, I2 means they're hitting before powerfists and at the same time as thunder hammers, anything with a power weapon butchers them but even a few surviving dudes take bites outta shit.

They're sorta anti meta honestly. Everyone wants to prepare their assault specialists to fight terminators so they load up on PFs and THs but those units aren't great into storm sections.

Unless they're WS5, WS5 still kicks their ass but thats the case for almost every WS4 unit in the game. Best you can do into WS5 is take a master sargent with a powerfist and go full Ork.

Long las wouldn't suit Veletarii. Their combat doctrines were modelled on the old Saturnine Void hoplites who were void combat specialists because the people of Saturn all lived in cramped void sealed environments. Whether those be space stations, spaceships or moonbound mining outposts.

Long las would be better for the conventional line infantry who came after. Those guys only started showing up because the auxilia needed training and equipment for fighting in open spaces.

Same with the tanks and such too honestly. The Veletarii did make use of sentinels during zone mortalis operations tho because those could easily bring heavy weapons and still fit in corridors.
