Sometimes they can pull all the plot threads together, and sometimes they cant.
They are more concerned with releasing a game on time, than making sure the story is actually coherent.

You need to learn to distinguish when they succeeded with their storytelling: Dark 1, Bloodborne
and when they gave up and just tacked on what they could in service of whatever they can muster for release: Dark 2/3, Elden Ring
