Maekawa isn't even a good writer. Adventure 2 is a mess of a plot with too much going on and outright nonsense like Knuckles punching ghosts for no reason. An excuse plot with an incredible amount of padding only remembered because of nostalgiafag newfags playing it as children and having low standards for media. Black Knight is barely even a Sonic story since it's mostly his OCs using existing designs and his writing for Secret Rings was so terrible Kenichi Tokoi had to salvage it. I have no idea why people gas him up this much. He neglected actual existing Sonic characters to push his original character donutsteel and by his own admission did not care for what Sonic the Hedgehog was before he worked on it and it shows.
A worse Sonic writer than even Flynn, which is certainly saying something. I will never understand why windfags gas him up. He has no interest in writing Sonic slop and gets better paid writing shota slop for Rune Factory.
