Palpatine might very well have been a reason (although very weakly) that Anakin was born. Palaptine's master Plagueis was working on some crazy lab Force Dark Side resurrection shit and while he was doing that the Force tried to "correct things" and so Shmi became pregant (without a father) with Anakin. and so one could roughly argue that by Palpatine doing his thing by working his way up in politics on Naboo, Plagueis was able to focus solely on his Dark Side research.

Palpatine might very well have been a reason (although very weakly) that Anakin was born.
