no you don't understand, it's actually clever game design that you get rewarded for doing literally anything
walking up to a banana out in the open and getting an unskippable animation as a reward is the type of genius game design only Nintendo can come up with

there were some parts where you can tell it does the Odyssey thing of giving you the banana / moon for doing basically nothing, like smashing a wall that obviously has something behind it, or the one where the banana is just half sticking out the ground
a lot of them in the video were straight up just not even hidden
other than that, it does look fun, even if it also seems very easy
the joy seems to come from the satisfaction of just smashing shit and seeing bright colors
