Honestly the Wanzer's (that's the name of the mech) controls pretty well, and yes if you dash the thing does a little animation where it recoils a little bit, but that's part of the experience, if you played Assault Suilt Valken then it's basically the same, and you can customize your wanzer's arsenal and upgrade it's appereance and gadgets.

The reason most adaptations suck ass these days, they don't respect the source material and pretend that we will like it anyway

Those abominations ruined whole evenings of my life trying to look at anything possitive about them, then i watched that Twisted Metal series, and honestly i think they nailed most of the things, also Sweet tooth wasn't murdered so much, so there's that.
