Why do people desperately want fictional characters to be something, usually something sexual in some way, they are obviously not?
I remember when the starwars sequel triology was coming out, and had ended, a lot of people wanted Poe and Finn to be gay for each other, and after it ended I knew people who were saying "They should have just made them gay if they weren't going to do anything with them" As if making them gay suddenly fixes their characters.
In various game media, people constantly want, headcanon, or outright delude themselves into thinking characters are gay, lesbian, or trans. I do not understand why people want or believe such drastic and wild changes.
