I've figured it out. You guys aren't reacting to the movie, you're reacting to the movie TRAILERS and the marketing surrounding the movie. The monkeys is a scene that's literally 5 seconds within a "science magic" type pocket dimension while Luthor is elaborating on his comically evil plan. I paid no attention to the marketing nor conversation surrounding it and saw the movie on a whim. My independent assessment is it's actually just that fucking good and you're all coping because you invested yourselves in preconceived narratives about a film you hadn't even seen yet.

I watched the Superman movie a total of one time while tripping on an edible and I can distinctly remember three interrelated storylines at least two of which feature character arcs
>A-plot where Superman has PR and then physical battle against Luthor
>Superman he wrestles with his identity after learning the truth about his biological parents but recommits himself to the ideals his adoptive parents taught him
>B-plot is Lois and Mr. Terrific uncovering Luthor's plot with appearances from Guy Gardner and Hawkgirl
>Justice Gang is won over by Superman's unwavering dedication to helping others and intervenes in a foreign conflict (it's implied in a quick Pentagon scene that this will have ramifications for how they're viewed by the government at the very least if not the public as well)
>C-plot where Jimmy Olsen extracts information out of Luthor's bimbo sidepiece.
You're all just outting yourself as pseuds if you can't follow shit that was perfectly straightforward to my high-as-a-kite ass. Superman is a tightly written movie that's efficient with its storytelling JUST LIKE THE RAIMI SPIDERMAN TRILOGY. All the plot development and character growth is there. Fucking modern audiences are actually just too stupid and fall for "hype moments and aura" over good writing.
