It's worse than that. They've been lying about their population numbers for some time. The real population of China is closer to 1.3 Billion, and 40% of them are elderly or too old for military service.

This is actually the bigger problem. Chinese men have nothing to fight for back home and they know they're cannon fodder. Worst case, they all die, best case they return home with military experience and cause trouble down the road. CCP can't purge them upon arrival back home, so a successful war means the end of the CCP.
China hasn't been in a modern war ever. They have no idea how complicated and difficult it is, even with a ton of combat experience and the best equipment. Logistics? Lol, lmao even. Higher brass believes that soldiers should be capable of "enduring hardship" at NK levels.

That's actually the worst case scenario. Modern Amphibious War is Max difficulty. China will likely lose if they try. There won't be any element of surprise because the invasion corridor is so narrow, Taiwan and every neighbor will see it coming a mile away. Any attempt to invade outside of that timeline is a guaranteed clusterfuck. And even if they take Taiwan, anything of value will be a crater by the time they're done. Basically, a symbolic victory and guaranteed global isolation for attacking a peaceful neighbor along with galvanizing the rest of SEA against them.
