>industry is stale and nothing new is being developed
Nothing substantially new, sure. There tends to be roughly month long gaps between fads that people jump on. It was the super cheap 4SUS4s, then the SMSchizo HFXC for a while, then that Oneleaf thermal. Next move I think will be a Oneleaf-level price:performance thermal drone, or maybe someone takes one for the team and sees how the stuff in pic related works.
>republican president gives people sense of security
Political views aside, this should be the "calm waters" period where people prep. Ammo prices tend to go up when democrats make substantial gains. Only problem is that the tariffs (in the long term) will still price people out of workable Chinese gear, such as Emerson uniforms, Militech carriers / plates, Oneleaf thermals, Holosun red dots, etc. A deal has been reached that may get Militech back on the table, hopefully.
>reddit Ukraine spammers pushed people away
Pushed people into discords, more like.
>every conversation devolves into nonsense about optics or armor plate quality
Guilty as charged! The armor industry, while historically advancing at a glacial pace, is not stale and new stuff comes out all the time. It's also (by far) the shadiest gun-adjacent industry and we've got a few guys here that have been around the block a few times and have seen the shit. In the last couple threads alone, we had the Hesco 3814 (which is a mediocre III++ that would have been very competitive twenty years ago), RMA (blegh) XRT, the cheap Fillin ceramic tile array plates from Russia, India crash coursing boron carbide / PE armor and driving right past Hesco, a bunch of random high-coverage stuff from Jinwudun, like two bullshit armor companies (Rook and another), I could go on.
>optics
Night vision and thermals especially, because they're cheat codes and it makes sense to talk about them in the greater scope of gear that /gq/ covers.
