I have two steam versions installed. One win7 legacy and the other modern one win10. Libraries are separate so both installs use them - it save space. The win10 version downlad and unpack new stuff that fail to download on the older version including Steam common redistributables

that is true, it crashes the Wizardy Daphne when I try to start it using Win10 Steam with VxKex on Win7

yeah, I reinstalled win7 steam, updated it and then dropped steam.cfg again to stop updates just in case
