Neytiri and Jake were mated for life before he was full Na'vi. And Norm has lived there long enough to believe. He just also believes in science which is also provably real. Also, Norm was the one instructing Jake on who Eywa was, how important she was to Na'vi, and trying to help explain to the RDA that she was real and measurable to get them not to destroy the trees. He's really gotten treated like shit in the story despite making sacrifices just like Jake. Gave up his family and any chance of ever going back to Earth too.

I love how much this series makes people seethe. They're just so mad that it's successful, everyone enjoys it, and it makes billies like crazy. They decided it was bad, you see, but how come no one is listening and obeying damnit?!
