Violence of any scale is permissible, but to show sexuality as a beautiful aspect of human nature is not, and this includes narratives where it shows it as a way of fulfillment instead of a form of rebellion that leads to deviancy or self destruction, specially when it comes to couples of different sexes. The incest part in this case is just the same old; The story shows a couple of outcast, in a life affirming romance where things could turn out alright, and the quality of writing rings true for many aspects of the human emotion that actually have the potential to make you reconsider your morals. At the end of the day, there is more commoners and peasants than Aeons holding together the demiurgical hell of the iron age on the modern world, and a simple idea could turn the tide of history when you realize that there is more to life than it seems. Even a simple indie videogame from some far corner in finnland could produce a change to that effect on a person, so it's not about the content, is about ideas, is about meaning, is about how close it is to the truth.

I think Shadow powers are more from a bio engineered origin, him being a bio-weapon and all. Blaze and Silver are the actual magicians in the Sonic series. Chaos Magic is just ritual magic, like in Coffin, but more random and less entity oriented.
