I like writing, but I often feel like I have nothing profound or unique to say. I'm currently working on a post-apocalyptic Greek tragedy about a father trying to rescue his daughter (who he doesn’t realize actually ran away) but the story feels derivative. What do you do to keep things fresh?

Why wasn't he wacked for assasinating all the other dons? If you can do that at any time without repercussions, why wouldn't anyone jsus do it?
