You realize part of the reason this whole thing started was due to the single player part of The Crew getting disabled. Yes, it was attached to a live service in this case but other fully single player games phoning home to a central server is also a thing that can and do happen. When the central server gets shut down, the single player game becomes inaccessible.
SKG also takes a stand against that.
