>Is it...fun?
No idea. Haven't played it yet - I was curious to know if anybody else had.

>It sounds like it's just a gimmick
Kinda is, yeah, but it was a gimmick I liked enough to buy into. I've got a weird history with strippers so it stood out to Me and I wanted to buy it.

Supposedly it was made by a former stripper.

Oh, they have plenty. That was just one example - and the main point I wanted to make with it was that they often express "We wanna do this thing" but will then deliberately avoid that thing at all costs.

The map I mentioned in that story is a real thing we have. Every province they visit has one, with notable undiscovered locations marked by a "???" and discovered locations marked with a fitting name (even if their PCs die I leave the place marked and they can still go whenever they want). They have discovered a majority of the things available in the province with that dragon, but refrained from seriously engaging with most of them. There's an entire dungeon of kobolds they keep coming back to - only to leave after getting through 1 or 2 rooms with no traps. There's an old, wrecked-up castle infested with low-level demons they also keep returning to, but often panic partway through the fight leading them to make extreme strategic fumbles that get themselves killed. There WAS a hamlet, barely a neighbourhood, of yuan-ti that they infiltrated. However, all but one of them was rendered unconscious during the fighting. I don't remember how, but the one remaining got all his allies into one building, and only one yuan-ti pursued him into that building (though more trailed far behind). He locked the door and prepared to kill the yuan-ti as the others caught up and started banging on the door. From inside, the player declared that he would spare all the other yuan-ti if they fled and let him kill this one. The yuan-ti inside accepted his fate, and the other yuan-ti fled. This has had extreme consequences festering for the last several in-game months that they have avoided touching with a 10km pole, and it's probably going to blow up for them very soon.

They have more than enough to do. They just refuse to do it even when it relates to their character goals or backstories.

I don't actually hate this idea. Might honestly try it.
