Americans are truly mindbroken by corporate propaganda. Capitalism itself isn't the point. It's free markets and competition which lower prices and make products better. That's why famous capitalists like Adam Smith was heavily in favor of government regulation in order to curb monopoly and destructive rent seeking behavior. Both parties should benefit from trade and when corporations find ways to extort money without making their products better, the overall economy suffers because funding is being diverted into unproductive hands.
