My idea is to have Selene rummage through X-Corps archives and find excavation reports that mention excavation teams that had ultrasonic signalling devices were killed much faster. From this she'd try to make a device that can replicate this sound so remotely to confuse Asterion and draw it into traps.
The traps would be courtesy of Ringo, setting up pitfalls with explosives inside them to at least injure the beast while the sinners rushed around the labyrinth trying to take it alive.

I just want to know what Asterion is on a more technical level since Selene's whole thing is being a genius researcher specializing in countering and targeting mental trickery. I actually wrote some lore on her home district already.

It's a fair placement for Selene. She's not incredibly strong unless she was allowed to snowball and subsume a color fixer or something ridiculous like that.
