As a Chaos Hero enjoyer I am glad that posters itt can see his appeal as a character.

Frankly there is no way the developers of the original game(s) weren't aware of this. The scenes where they decide to leave are always written in such a way that hints at at minimum disappointment and that's without going into the sadness of their deaths.
And it feels like a genuine parallel to real when friendships fall off or end due to ideological differences.
The fandom has built this "le kil youre friends xD" meme for the billionth trite and forced nuPersona comparison but it really sucks to kill your friends in SMT1. Both Chaos Hero and Law Hero also feel genuinely like they could have changed their their minds had things gone differently. Chaos Hero was a victim of circumstances getting strung along by a thot and Law Hero was basically brainwashed into believing he was the Messiah.
