We're not some horrible monster (unless we make the conscious choice to keep Snowgrave going), but Toby's writing is far more earnest and less subversive than people want to admit, and "Kris working with the Knight to stop a greater evil" is a pretty obvious plot point.
Like I don't see how you can go through the last part of chapter 4 with all the POWER OF FRIENDSHIP moments and the Susie declaring their friendship will smash the prophecy and think Toby is actually subversive. We're 100% getting a moment where the Knight reveals herself to be Dess and fights alongside us while a remix of Raise Up Your Bat is playing, because it would be hype as fuck.
