>If a couple of rich people own most of the wealth
1% of the US population is 3.3 million people. 10% is 33 million people.
The combined wealth of every billionaire in the country is just over $6 TRILLION. The US national debt is $37 TRILLION. Rich people aren't the ones fucking you, its the government.

>Clearly, those hopes are dead
I wouldn't go that far. The Neo Cons are a dying movement. No one believes in them, if the Republicans get trounced in the next election they'll get the blame for not doing what they promised and a lot of them will be easy to primary. We're all ready seeing NeoCon rats like Thom Tillis refusing to run for reelection and a lot of the other Neocons are on the verge of going off to the old folks home.
In the short term the swamp has managed to reassert itself and prove that the uniparty is still in charge; but I question how long term that victory is. They've just pissed off the Republican voter base by letting the BBB spending bill get all the goodies voters wanted like legalizing suppressors and short barreled rifles get stripped out because the unelected senate parliamentarian implemented some weird rule of order and the Republicans were too pussy to fight for their voters.
We knew the NeoCons were still in office and that we were going to have to fight to primary them out of their positions. This is their last gasp of uniparty corruption and incompetence, fucking over Trump and dividing the Republican party against itself in the name of the uniparty swamp. The next step is obvious, we have to primary the old guard out and they've given us the ammunition to do it.

>We're the richest country in the world.
We're not.
We have $37 TRILLION in debt. We're broke. If we took every last penny from every billionaire in the country it would only pay off $6.2 TRILLION of the debt.
We aren't rich, we can't afford more government, the boomers have bankrupted the country and you're going to spend the rest of your life paying their debts. Welcome to the real world.

>Why don't we tax the billionaires, /pol/?
They worm their way out of a lot of their taxes with tax loopholes that were written into our overly complex tax code by corrupt politicians; but even if we taxed them heavily it wouldn't make the difference you think it would.
The combined wealth of every billionaire in the United States is $6.22 Trillion. The national debt is $37 Trillion. So even if we took every penny that every billionaire in the country owned it would still only pay off about 17% of the national debt.
Government spending is the big problem. We need less government and if we can get the national debt under control then we should eliminate ALL taxation on the working class. We need less government and less taxes not more.
