.44 Special is less powerful than .357 Mag. Pretty comparable to .45 ACP, and still slightly inferior to that in raw numbers. It's a very fun caliber to shoot from a full size .44 Mag rated revo, but it is absolutely miserable from a lightweight Charter Arms Bulldog. I wouldn't recommend buying a .44 Spl specific revolver unless you're a reloader or just extremely autistic and enjoy niche stuff.
