Len Wiseman is one-note. Die Hard 4 is really good, but it's entirely carried by his second unit people. Underworld is good, give him that. Ballerina is good, but I've done a bit of digging, and I think that at least 1/3 of the film was reshot. They have tried to avoid throwing Wiseman under the bus because the parts he did shoot that they kept are good, but the film had serious problems before the reshoots.

In terms of PWSA, he's an immensely talented director who has made some remarkable movies. Event Horizon, Soldier, Resident Evil, AvP, Death Race -- all great films that have stood the test of time. His Three Musketeers was fun. I did like Monster Hunter. It's not amazing, but it's fine. In the Lost Lands is visually stunning, and emotionally effective in places, and it has an amazing soundtrack, but it was sorta disjointed and didn't really work narratively. The House of the Dead will make or break him. The same is true of Snyder's next movie. After Rebel Moon, Snyder absolutely needs to nail his next movie. He cannot fuck up again.

Is Paul W.S. Anderson a great director who stopped trying, or is he a hyper-derivative hack who got lucky, ala Quentin Tarantino?
