This shit happens in every single Trails game.
I think Falcom are completely incapable of writing a villain that doesn't "lose" a fight, reveal they were holding back the entire time (bonus points if they then effortlessly btfo the protagonists in a cutscene) and say something cryptic about "The Plan" while chuckling and teleporting away. I've never bothered with the games after Sky for this reason, especially since people say it gets even worse after Sky 3rd
