Or you could put some perennials in the ground and have huge harvests of fruit for years and years. Then you won't be so hungry that you'll do something stupid like join the military to get something to eat.

If you have South facing windows, you can grow things indoors.
Citrus fruits, for instance, are known to produce stupid amounts of fruit when grown in pots.

Food prices have gotten insane and we're not even officially in WWIII yet. Imagine how bad things are going to get when rationing takes effect (remember the COVID lockdowns?).
A small investment of 50-100 bucks now could save your life 2 or 3 years from now.

If it's warm enough in your area, you could also grow citrus. Kumquats are a bit more cold tolerant than the others and they're also neat in that the skin is edible, so you eat them whole.
