It seems that option is actually kinda strong if you pay him off? I think it negates the downsides maybe, it seemed weird cause I hit it once for strength or something and felt really strong after

I think ulcerated, erdtree, and deathrite bird are all feasible at level 5 if you just have a bit of fire or holy too really
there's probably a couple others I'm missing off the top of my head, but elmer is not that spooky out in the field if you have lightning either, I still wouldn't recommend him or kindred before 9 though just cause of their sheer tankiness
