the game was delayed significantly so we can safely say that launching blatantly unfinished was just a part of tsujimoto's vision, like with rise :)

Wilds was due out two years ago. it got delayed by two full years, and the best they could do is stop it from crashing too often on the target platform. at that point, I don't think it's just incompetence and its certainly not a lack of time. It's not even like it's a super next level game that takes very good advantage of its hardware. I think the engine quite literally can not handle the type of rendering load wilds demands of it, and at the scope of the game right now there most likely isn't much more they can do to stop wilds from being so resources intensive.
Given that a large, measurable majority of the negative steam reviews mention the terrible performance, and that capcom have yet to meaningfully address it (in some cases, only seeming to make it even worse), putting out an expansion at this point would be suicide. The smartest thing to do in this situation would be to just quietly shelve Wilds and flip as many of its assets as possible into a MH7 on the REX engine.
