Last week, two more Israeli soldiers took their own lives. The first, a reservist, had reportedly suffered months of psychological distress. According to Israeli outlet Walla, his trauma began with the loss of two close friends on October 7, 2023, and intensified with “his continued anguish during the long months of war in Gaza and Lebanon, and the horrors he witnessed on the battlefield.” His family said he often spoke of “the smell of corpses and the atrocities he had seen.” He had been assigned to transport the bodies of fallen soldiers from the fronts in Gaza and Lebanon. He committed suicide after multiple requests for psychological support “to no avail.” The Israeli army reportedly refused to bury him with military honors or count him among the war’s military casualties.

>why would you commit suicide when you can just run towards a tank with a grenade instead ? nobody who still has something to lose does that
The suicidal ideation doesn't consume them until they are out of Gaza and trapped in civilian life with their own dark thoughts and no distractions or peer group.
So they're nowhere near a tank when that shit happens.

Let me just set myself and my truck on fire in the woods here. I can't take this gay Jewish life anymore. I got wrecked too hard, too many times in Gaza.
Nightmares of 14 year old men raping me over and over. No More. This. Ends. NOW.

Hebrew: Soldier will not be recognized as a fallen IDF soldier and will not receive a military burial. His family said, “He dedicated his life to fighting.” The IDF said, " That's the law." Daniel Adry was found on Saturday inside a burning car in Safed after he was unable to cope with the post-traumatic stress and suffering he experienced following the fighting in Gaza. Although he took his own life, he dedicated his life to fighting for Israel, and now his family is demanding that he receive a military burial. The IDF responded: "The IDF and the Ministry of Defense share in the grief of the family of the late Daniel Adry. According to the law, an IDF casualty is only someone who fell during military service, either regular or active reserve duty. The late Daniel Adry was not in regular or active reserve service, and therefore cannot be recognized as an IDF casualty and is not eligible for a military burial."
