Sony and Nintendo will continue to crush their revenue targets for a couple years but the real number of users will shrink as they slowly bleed users to the PC/Steam/Handheld group and fail to attract kids/teens playing increasingly competitive games on their phones due to high entry costs
My hot take is that this "core console gaming" will turn into the Disney or Lego of video games: premium toys for an aging audience while the actual target demographic moved on to something else
