Even if the author is a leftist retard is Bullshit Jobs here very helpful: He argues that in modern western service economies something like 20 to 40% of jobs have no purpose and don't produce neither good nor service that benefits society. Even if he explicitly claims that more men do bullshit jobs than women, there is no way this is true, even in his own parameters he lays out in the book himself.
There aren't economic reasons to keep them around, but social ones:
A female underling is a power-fantasy and a possible sexual opportunity.
people doing meaningless paperwork and endless zoom calls look good on the exact same useless paperwork so that they can show the higher-ups that a lot is being done, refined and researched within the company, while the core product of the company isn't really affected because it works fine anyway. A higher-up who just sits there because production is fine will soon seem obsolete, a higher up who constantly wants to know what's going on argues for his own existence, there are entire departments that only exist to prove their own existence within a company.

Picrelated helped me make sense of this. If you don't have an accurate understanding of society and the economy life is going to feel like funhouse.
