It's just very weird on what works and what doesn't since the new compression.
Seems installing is fine and older updates are fine too, but newer updates is 50/50 on whether or not they work.
I just updated Streets of Rogue today just fine for instance but in the same day Project Zomboid just failed, so maybe it's tied to the dev whim or how old the game is? Not sure.
Honestly I'm more annoyed by how half-assed the whole thing is, they could have easily set up backward compatibility, but they just didn't, and worst, they didn't even care about what Steam would do if it doesn't work, since on older OS it just get stuck in an extremely bandwidth wasting loop if you don't stop it manually.
It reeks of Valve getting more and more lazy.

>it will harm the tiny indie developer
I didn't know the tiny indie developer had billions of dollars lying around to make an always online game, how could I have been so foolish?
