He explained it pretty well. He has to go there every day, put in overtime, sometimes work at the weekend, for a salary that most likely isn't great, doing a job that's pointless for the most part while higher ups make way more than him, treat him like their bitch and do absolutely nothing.

Having to interact with HR, CEOs and any other person who gets paid more than you while you don't even know what their position abbreviation means or what he actually does for 8h a day makes everyone miserable.
That's why programming is entertaining but working as a programmer is dreadful.
