They just dropped a patch that makes it so that selecting a random track in worldwides will now give you the straight line intermissions instead of the traditional 3 lap variant of a track. Previously, selecting random would give you normal 3-lap courses instead of the interstitial courses no one likes, so people were spamming random.
Random now picks the courses no one likes, so there's no way to avoid them.
