It's a stale genre. You can tell with how PoE and its newest entries borrow damage avoidance mechanics like rolling from better action games, making it more like DMC3 (though the souls games were for sure where they took inspiration from, even if the isometric view+dodging and killing hordes of enemies makes it a lot closer to a dmc/old god of war) Diablo's story, world, vibes and art direction was just so good that it overshadowed the fact that the gameplay was never that good .
