Gaster, sans, and (You) are all on the same team. You all fuck with the game worlds to a degree unlike any of the other characters. You're at odds with Kris, maybe Ralsei as well as they're all keeping shit from you, maybe even misleading you.
sans occupying Toriel kept her from getting kidnapped, foiling the Knight/Kris, Gaster was cheering you on during the Knight fight.
