I agree it's not perfect, but we don't see that imperfection. When we meet Miquella, he's already made his choices and is in control. We never see or hear how he feels directly about his failures, and that makes him this enigmatic force instead of feeling like a character we can relate to, sympathize with, hate, or anything.

I don't have a problem with the dlc story conceptually. It's the execution that's fucked up. Like I said before, Miquella betting it all on the Haligtree, only for it to fail and he wakes up dead, and he goes fucking nuts maybe and throws caution to the wind and sheds his body in a desperate attempt at godhood? Awesome. But instead the dlc has it so Miquella wakes up in the Land of Shadow and he likely went
