After the advent of the internet I found that not even the 10,000 teachers online could answer my questions convincingly. They'd get stumped, say things like

I was raised very religiously, especially in my younger years. I'm at best superstitious now.

I was always a lot more questioning and introspective than the other kids, but I never found convincing answers no matter who I asked.
As I started reflecting the questions piled on until my stance was clear.
