Why is every American either a complete teetotaler or a degenerate alcoholic? Why can't they drink with moderation?

I rarely, if ever, drink during the weekdays but I can have a beer or a glass of wine with food and then do a bit more in weekends, going to a pub with some friends, a concert or just a dinner party but I can also go 2-4 weeks without drinking at all.

Americans however seemingly have no impulse control when it comes to alcohol and it's either on or off with them which makes listening to American podcasts about alcohol extremely difficult because they will always compare these two extremes when it comes to health. One example of this is like Joe Rogan and Huberman who will just go on and on about "alcohol is le bad 4u" but they're speaking about it from an American perspective where apparently alcohol is something you drink ever single day and they will be so fucking proud about being sober for x amounts of days/months/weeks and how many "health benefits" they're getting. Fucking mutts.
