Good decision. The one good idea Sun/Moon had were the ride Pokemon and they were dropped like a sack of bricks for the ugliest bike ever next gen. The downward spiral of the series is so sad to witness.

The prequels are full of worthless fanservice and you can't convince me R2, C3P0, Yoda and Chewbacca (arguably Boba Fett too because him being the clone guy was worthless for the movies) weren't there to make you clap and feel all the nostalgias and buy all the toys. I always laugh at this part, MVC2 is a game you can play with friends and it's alright, but sweatys like Max or Justin make the casual tired because they make people think that tryharding is the only way to play correctly, so the fun ride ends pretty quickly.

Waited decades for a Getter Robo sequel and even though it actually came out I didn't watch because CGI mecha makes me mald and seethe. Imagine how unappealing a whole movie of 3D Dragon Ball characters sounds to me. No thanks.
