Shadow does not work for G.U.N. btw. He works with them a bit like a freelancer or even a mercenary in that he is only "with" G.U.N. in times that it's advantageous to him personally. When they stop being advantageous to him he'll fuck off and do things on his own. He will protect the planet Maria loved, and he will use whatever means he has at his disposal in order to do that. Double-crossing people isn't something he'd shy away from if it meant achieving his goals.
