I remember one thread a week ago, this guy absolutely insisted the entire Raygun-Retro 1950's aesthetic was a Bethesda invention that ruined the franchise. Like twenty anons had quotes, art, and citations from the entire Fallout 1 Team and Leonard Boyarsky saying directly that the retro-future 1950s stuff was always an inspiration, "Raygun-Gothic inspired Fallout 1" in direct quotes, as well as the raygun wacky pulse-weapons from FO2. Anon then had a meltdown and started insulting everyone and calling rayguns retarded. It was amusing.

Fallout 2 has literal goofy 1950s raygun designs.
