Even then no matter how much one has to shout Chuds or make conspiracy theories, there is very clearly some element of adversity to the artstyle. It's impossible to downplay after a while. And really, a studio needs to start paying attention when something generates adversity and try to do something about it. There is enough commentary over enough years that it should be obvious that something has to change here.
Historically animation has to attract the widest audience it can, it's too expensive, takes too long to make, and requires three times the amount of crew to make than any live action movie. So throughout history all studios understood that it cannot be niche, it has to attract everyone as humanly possible. So it seems incredibly counterproductive to maintain use of a visual style that does appear to have a level of bad press attached to it and is known to turn off a percentage of the viewing audience.
