As others have said, it is a game that is generally low effort and wouldn't be fun on its own but because you're playing with friends and they can die (or you can kill them) it naturally just makes you laugh and you associate that with the game itself.
It is less about the games being irredeemable trash, and more about them just relying heavily on the fact that you're playing with people you like to make the experience tolerable. Another example could be board games:
Candyland is literally not a game. There are no choices made. There is nothing you can do. Upon the deck being shuffled the winner is determined and no one knows until someone wins. There is no skill. If you played this with your friends and took a shot every time someone drew a certain color, you'd probably end up having fun. Would that make candyland a good game? Absolutely not. This is the most extreme example.
Compare that to another decent or highly rated game. Quacks of Quedlinburg, Dominion, Pandemic, Spirit Isle. These are games that are genuinely good and fun. If played with friends they are an EXTREMELY good experience as you have the benefits of a good game AND a good set of people to play with. However, these games are fun even with acquaintances or even well meaning strangers. As long as someone is not actively a huge asshole, you'll probably still have fun.
That is the difference between a good game that is co-operative and a game that is just "friendslop".

Honestly not an awful plan.
While there is a little bit of tantric pleasure in grabbing a box down and popping a cart or disc out and leaving it near the console, in reality the appeal of physical media such as shelves of games is the space it takes up and the visuality. Moreso if you already play backups instead.

It'd probably be fine, and fun even, to just shelf a bunch of repro boxes of your favorite titles and oddball random choices to represent the not-so-good entries in every library. Might look into that now.
