Why is Bungie tweeting about it, clipping parts of streams, watching it in their faggy little mini theatre (like they always have) and more importantly, why do they have the emblems set up for supporting streamers during the race then?
They full well understand that this is the ONLY event in Destiny that has the streaming numbers. The reason that people even make a big deal out of the non-streamers winning is because its supposed to be a sign that things were a general outlier or that most of the streamers didn't give two shits (or they fucking suck)
It all leads back to the comparison against streamers.

They literally fucked over the portal after streamers spent hours farming it to like 350+ power
Barely anyone else could've had the free time to put those many hours in, and they're getting subs and viewers as they do it so they don't need to worry about money as much as others
