Is having both parents with Pace Chaser (2 stars) redundant? Will you get an SS Pace Chaser rating if both of them were Pace Chasers (3 stars)?

I haven't tried it yet but what is the benefits of taking the other trainer out on a date once you unlock it? I should be focusing on my horse.
