>yet for some reason toby made accepting toriels adaoption as the key to the "best" ending
Undertale's "perfect" ending is so unbelievably forced where despite all the logistical problems of the pacifist ending, everything just works out. A lot of Undertale's framework is pretty poorly written honestly, where the monsters are constantly painted as being super kind and could do no wrong. Deltarune is a lot better in this regard
The other day I thought about how monsters greet each other by firing bullets at each other's souls. Toby said "oh the monsters don't know you're human, this is just how they act" to excuse the fact that if they did know what they were doing, every monster you'd face would be trying to kill a child which would make them look bad but this has its own host of problems.
This cultural difference could be a massive issue where they accidentally kill humans just by trying to say hello. If you aren't expecting it, a few bullets can easily take down a level 1 human (which pretty much every human would be). Suddenly this brand new race is killing people, possibly absorbing their souls which could permanently fuse one of your loved one's to the body of a frog monster, and the "monster ambassador" meant to stop this madness is an 8 year old kid.

So like, this explanation Toby did to make it seem like most monsters aren't ACTUALLY trying to kill you completely invalidates the pacifist ending right?
It is monster culture to essentially attack anyone's soul on sight. This brand new race shows up which people would already be nervous about but then they start unknowingly ripping apart you and your family's souls. Pretty much everyone human is level 1 so its not inconceivable for monsters to accidentally kill a lot of people. Then they might absorb their souls, making it that instead of your loved one going to Heaven, they get stuck in a frog for eternity, and then you essentially have a demigod/god causing chaos depending on if they get even more souls.
>Well maybe Asgore can tell them not to
There's a lot of wild monsters that don't seem fully sapient that would be unable to follow instructions
