People used to bring animals to powerful people as offerings for their favor, which were useful to them as food or farm stock.

People assumed gods had the same wants, and sacrificed animals to them as offerings. This doesn't aid the gods, and some aren't pleased with it because it's killing without good reason, like consuming for food. They may like votive offerings though, like little sculptures of animals. Aphrodite does.

Did you see it? Could be a lie if you didn't. If you did, they could just be doubling up on demonic tricks.

My point is it's like turtles all the way down because there's no way to know a supernatural entity's true intentions to a certainty, and it's easy to claim everyone but your favorite is a demon. I follow my heart, of course.
