I guess the real question would be in the definition of "a set of sexual characteristics". Would "set" imply a complete change from one to the other, or does it just mean any combination? Following on from that, would it be possible to become fully functionally intersex while retaining the otherwise outward appearance of being purely female?(or male, for that matter)
